Nellore has the name of Vikrama Simhapuri. During the tenth century, the name of Nellore Vikrama Simhapuri appears in inscriptions in historical poems.
How did Nellore get its name?
Nelli means amla in Tamil. As Shiva lingam was found under the amla tree, the area where the Shiva lingam was found under the amla tree was gradually called Nellie Ooru. The area where Mulasthaneswara was located became Nellore. Vikrama Simhapuri became Nellore after the emergence of Mulasthaneswara Swami. Manuma Siddhi Prabhu who ruled in the 13th century. There are historical evidences that the Maha Rajagopuram was built. This gopuram has three floors with pancha kalasala. On this gopuram there are many idols of Lord Shiva and Maha Jaganmata

Inside the Mahamandapam there are swarupas corresponding to the 12 signs of the rasichakra

To the right of the main temple is Vinayaka and to the left is Subrahmanyaswamy. Between the flagpole and the Rajagopala stands an idol of Nandiswara. The entrance to the sanctum sanctorum is made of panchaloha and on it are carved idols of Shiva’s goddesses. There are other upalayas in the temple.
To the south of Swami’s Pradakshina Mandapa, there are Brahma Durga Devi Mandap to the North of Swami’s Pradakshina Mandapam. There is also Navagraha Mandapam. To the left of Mulasthaneswara Swamy’s temple is Sri Subrahmanya Swamy Sri Valli and Devasena’s temple. It is believed that childless devotees will get children by serving this Lord Subrahmanyeshwar.
Lord Chandiswara Swamy is present, Durga Devi is present, there are Naga idols.

Mulasthaneshwar is standing on the Panighatta with Padma Kriti. In the special Bhuvaneshwari Devi temple which is on the left side of Mulasthaneshwar temple, there are Amma. Navadurgas are standing around Ammavari’s Pradakshina Mandapam.
Every year Brahmotsavam is held in the month of Magha, and Vasanthotsavam is held for 8 days in the month of Vaisakha. Nagarotsavam is held in the month of Pushya.
